Victoria Beckham: On Target for Fashion

Proving she’s no fly-by-nighter, Victoria Beckham continues to wear the pants in her own inimitable style at the helm of her eponymous fashion label. Despite earlier predictions of the fashion brand’s demise and nasty rumours that it’s been running at a financial loss, VB stepped out in confident style at the Milan men’s runway shows in complementary blue and mustard tones. Plus, this week sees the press junket in full swing for Victoria’s range of designs for…Target! Yes, Target. The VVB (“Victoria,” by Victoria Beckham) collection will only be available in Target stores from April 9th – 30th and will target (yes, pun intended) the more price-conscious customer. Victoria answered our questions via email as follows:

Goldrush: “What kind of client are you hoping to reach with the Target range?”

Victoria Beckham: “For a while now, I have been thinking how great it would be to work on clothes for a customer that either doesn’t want to pay or can’t pay designer prices. I loved the idea of opening the brand up to a wider audience and being able to share my vision with a broader customer base. So when Target—a company based on accessibility and inclusiveness—proposed a collaboration which combined all of these things, it was an easy decision to make."

Goldrush: “How have you gone about preparing this collection?" (shown above)

VB: “I have always said that the best way for me to learn about new areas is to work with an expert in that field. In order to do something well, you need to surround yourself with the right people, and the Target team members have been the right people for me. It has been such a pleasure working with their team.

What they have provided me with is a really unique opportunity to connect with families across the U.S. I’m so excited for the months ahead, and for everyone to see a collection that I am really proud of.” (below: All designs with the lily motif by Victoria Beckham are picked to be the best-sellers within her collection for Target; each piece is less than USD $70, seeing Target fight back against competition from online shopping sites / cut-priced fashion suppliers.)

The Victoria Beckham for Target collection, cost-wise, ranges in price from USD $6-$70 ( and most pieces will be under USD $40). The collection focuses on women’s wear and children’s clothing and will be available at all Target stores and Target.com, with select pieces available for global shoppers via VictoriaBeckham.com
